OBITUARY
Gerald Edward Trimble
February 5, 1962 – October 2, 2025
Gerald “Jerry” Trimble, MD, passed away peacefully from pancreatic cancer on October 2 at his home in Largo, Florida, in the care of loved ones.
Jerry was a devoted husband, a dedicated father, a caring physician, and a passionate soccer coach. Throughout his life, Jerry found exhilaration and satisfaction in pursuing mastery of various action sports, including snowboarding, whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, cycling, and weekly barefoot water skiing sessions with close buddies. His love of adventure was infectious.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 5, 1962, Jerry moved to South Florida in the early 1970s. He went on to attend the University of Miami, where he played on their soccer team and became an avid fan of the Hurricanes. He is rooting for them to win the National Championship in football this season.
Jerry met his lifelong love while growing up in South Florida. After supporting each other through medical and law school, the couple married in 1986. They moved to Clearwater in the ‘90s, where they established their life and raised their sons.
Jerry attended the University of South Florida College of Medicine. After practicing anesthesiology for many years, he went on to start his private pain management practice in Tampa Bay. Over his 35-year career, Jerry — or Dr. T as his patients called him — provided relief to thousands of patients, including professional athletes, celebrities, and people from all walks of life. Shortly after his diagnosis in May of this year, he decided to stop working and sell his practice, which continues to operate today.
His memory lives on in his beloved wife, Melissa; his two sons, Logan (Anna) and Grady; his grandsons, Gavin and Malcolm; his mother, Dorothy; his siblings, Rosemary, Paul (Beheen), and Carl (Nell); and his nieces and nephews. He joins in heaven his father, Paul, and other loving relatives.
When Jerry knew he was close to the end, he paraphrased a quote from Evel Knievel, whom he personally knew: “No king, no royalty, no president has had a better life than me.”
A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 10th at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, located at 820 Jasmine Way, Clearwater, FL 33756. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lustgarten Foundation (https://lustgarten.org/?form=give), the largest funder of pancreatic cancer research in the world.
